We need to brag! Our great graduate assistant, Marie Stark, just received word that she will be doing her internship (actually, a temp job) with Blizzard Entertainment in Irvine, CA this summer. Blizzard Entertainment is one of the largest computer game companies in the video game industry and Marie is an avid Blizzard gamer. She will be part of the Blizzard Vault team working under the supervision of Roger Howard and utilizing CollectionSpace, a collections management software. Her job duties will include record keeping, storage facility improvements, acquisition strategy and processes, digital preservation planning, migration to a new system and she will have open access to the rest of the company.
She was given a VERY hefty signing bonus to help with the moving and living expenses, and an equally healthy hourly wage with 40/hours a week guaranteed. Amenities include full access to Blizzard facilities such as the gym, game room, hiking trails, volleyball and basketball courts, theater, and local discounts. This is a 12 week position with a potential for extension and since Marie is one of Blizzard’s biggest fans, she is thrilled beyond words! Her hard work, varied experience, and enthusiasm really paid off when she applied for this prestigious internship. She was one of thousands of applicants and they were very impressed with her prior museum and archives experience, not to mention her love of their games! Go Marie!!
